Gluten Free Fried Fish

Look no further for a gluten free fried fish batter!

Minnesota cold weather and frozen over lakes makes my husband want  to do some ice fishing. So winter is the only time we have fresh fish in our house. I don’t usually recommend frying fish but on occasion fried fish is a treat with a gluten free batter that crunches in your mouth.

Ingredients for your gluten free fried fish

1 cup all purpose gluten-free all purpose flour mix – Bob’s Red Mill
1 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon baking powder – gluten free
1 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder – gluten free
1 teaspoon salt
12 ounce bottle club soda – don’t add all at once

Additional Ingredients

Oil for frying
Fish Fillets

In a medium size bowl mix all of the dry batter ingredient and blend with a fork. Slowly add the club soda you may not use it all. You want to add just enough club soda to make the batter pasty if it is to thin it will slide off the fish.

Heat the oil and drop in coated fish fillets when batter feels crispy flip to the other side and when both sides are crispy take out of oil and place on a plate with a paper towel.

Enjoy your gluten free fried fish!
